I am sitting in a local pizza restaurant. Listening to audiobooks, doing research, and eating pizza. Most of the tv’s have sports on, but one has ongoing weather updates.
My phone vibrates with a new text:
NWS has issued a Tornado Warning for Rutherford, Coffee, and Bedford County until 12:15 PM
I focus on the tv with the weather map and a minute or two later they show on the map the general area that they think a tornado hits.
A little while later official warning system kicks in, with a message that I had received at least 5 minutes prior.
I am very glad that I took the few minutes to set up a way to get push notifications (text in this case) when there are notifications. Waiting for the old school tv show interuption could take too long and sitting glued to the tv is a waist of time & energy.
The technological tools we have avaliable today are great.
