Best Practices are the Worse Case Scenario – #bcn11worst

The biggest issue with “best practices” is the specificity problem. When the situation does not fit a specific criteria.
Best Practices do not make you better at solving problems, it makes you better at copy & paste, or using the same solution to every issue.
Good use of Best Practices:
Consider them at the start, don’t use them as the end point.
Consider them within the context of the situation, not the end all be all way to act.
Best Practices are not the only viable solution.
